WEDDING BELLS AND WRITING SUMMARY
I did the deed and proposed to my girlfriend Juliana. If all goes as planned, we'll be getting married next year, in November 2005. Wish us luck! But don't think my pending nuptials will distract me from my writing and acting! I'll be auditioning for a few more acting gigs, and I'll be continuing to write. Here's a brief summary of some of the writing projects I'm working on: WORKS IN PROGRESS: Everything mentioned on the City of Kik Web site is in various states of development. Some details: 1. I'm finishing up the short-stories, novellas on my plate, and hope to write some new ones soon (see below). I had written "PIOUS" a long time ago and the version you see on the City of Kik right now is a revised version that only tells the second half of the story. So I'm rewriting the "first half" as a prequel, which shows how the young prince prepares to take on the burden of the crown and save his cursed father and the kingdom. 2. I was toying with turning the "LUGAT" vampire tale into a screenplay, but I think I'm going to finish it up as a short story the way I originally intended. Eventually, I think all my short stories have the potential to be adapted for the screen, but for now I think the prose format allows the reader to best get into the protaganist's head. 3. I've been getting some really cool ideas for that fantasy screenplay on which I've been collaborating with Vin over the years. Hopefully we'll have time to brainstorm a little more and then I can finally dish out a rough draft of the script. 4. Working on my older stories and screenplay ideas really has helped me get my creative juices flowing. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to sell some of that earlier stuff, like my 4EVER screenplay or ENTER THE DREAMERS or REST IN PEACE, but writing them and rewriting them has been a very valuable experience for me and I think it's really helped my writing so that the other projects which mean so much to me, like THE LOST PLANET and THE MIDNIGHT STRANGLER and my HEROES scripts, can turn into something much better than I had originally imagined them being. Hey, it's all about motivation, and right now my writing muse is tugging me merrily along, so I can't complain. 5. The success of Mel Gibson's PASSION OF THE CHRIST has made me rethink my own "Jesus project" -- I think my vision of the YESHUA story is still a unique and compelling perspective, but I want it done right. So that will be something I'll continue to work on. BRAND NEW MATERIAL: 1. FAITH AND THE SWORD -- A full length stage play about an old guy who thinks he's Lancelot (from King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table) and how he deals with his family, especially his wife Faith. 2. Linking my short one-act stage plays into a full length anthology format. 3. I came across a story I wrote in junior high (never throw anything you write away!) about neighborhood kids who discover the world is being invaded by U.F.O.s, and I thought it might make a fun children's adventure book, so I might start playing around with writing it as a novel -- sort of a sci-fi Harry Potter. 4. An untitled short fantasy story about a legendary old tower used as a prison which was destroyed during a war decades ago and whose ghostly form inexplicably reappears. 5. A new screenplay tentatively titled BROTHER'S KEEPER about a guy who moves back to his Bronx neighborhood when he hears that his kid brother is in over his head with some wise guys. I jokingly think of it as "The Albanian Godfather." And a lot more. Not enough space or time to get into here. For those of you reading this, thanks for sticking around. We'll hopefully be updating the City of Kik on a more frequent basis and then start promoting it the way it should be. Happy writing! |
